The Opportunity:
As a Fiscal Specialist 2 with WSU Athletics Business Office Operations , you will handle complex technical and administrative financial functions that keep our department running smoothly. You will establish and maintain comprehensive fiscal recordkeeping systems, perform financial analysis, support budget planning, prepare reports, and coordinate department‑wide financial activities, including reimbursements, travel, and purchasing for a wide range of sport and administrative units.
You will ensure that all departmental accounting procedures align with NCAA, Pac‑12, state, university, and departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Working under general supervision, you will have the opportunity to exercise independent judgment, make informed decisions, and interpret and apply complex financial rules and regulations.
In this position, you will serve as a knowledgeable advisor to units, coaches, staff, and administrators—providing guidance on applicable policies and procedures and recommending efficient, effective solutions. You will collaborate with internal and external partners and play a key role in maintaining positive and productive working relationships across the department.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3,840 to $5,137 | Range 43 | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Two (2) years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1 AND 15 quarter hours OR 10 semester hours of college level accounting; OR equivalent education/experience.
Demonstrated strong computer capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to function in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills, including the ability to provide information to a variety of people.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and understanding of applicable rules and regulations, including State of Washington, Washington State University, Athletic Department, NCAA, and Pac-12 Conference rules and regulations.
Demonstrated strong time management, fiscal accountability, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated work experience adhering to business practices and internal processes and controls.
Demonstrated excellent report writing skills.
Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete projects with specific deadlines.
