General Information:

James Madison University, a Division I member of the NCAA and Sun Belt Conference, is accepting applications for two Football Analysts. The Football Analyst, In addition to football-specific responsibilities, will be involved in recruiting efforts, supporting student-athletes’ academic progress and ensuring compliance with NCAA and University rules and regulations. Both positions are full-time and includes benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Football Analyst / Coaching / Practice & Game Planning Support:

• Assist the defensive or offensive coaching staff in developing and refining defensive or offensive game plans.
• Analyze opponent film to identify defensive or offensive tendencies, player strengths/weaknesses, and suggest defensive or offensive schemes and adjustments.
• Evaluate individual player performances in practice and games, providing feedback to coaches and players.
• Breakdown game film to assist with in-game strategy, including personnel matchups and situational analysis.
• Provide insight into defensive or offensive formations and schemes for game day preparation.
• Based on the opponent’s game film and tendencies, the analyst will recommend adjustments to the defense's or offensive's base formations or packages.
• Collaborate with coaches to assess effectiveness of defensive or offensive plays during practices and recommend improvements.
• The analyst will support the defensive or offensive coordinator and coaching staff in designing and adjusting the overall defensive or offensive game plan each week. This includes suggesting strategies for defending against key offensive players, identifying areas where the defense can create turnovers, and recommending adjustments based on the opponent’s personnel and tendencies. The analyst may also help in scouting specific formations or plays the opponent runs, ensuring the defense is well-prepared for every situation.
• The analyst will work with the coaching staff to help develop defensive or offensive players by breaking down specific film clips to highlight both successes and areas for improvement.
  Collaborate with position coaches to ensure that practice drills align with the needs identified during film breakdown.
• Using technology such as tablets or sideline video feeds, the analyst may be involved in reviewing key plays in real time. Analyst will contribute to discussions on defensive or offensive adjustments based on real-time in-game data throughout the game (drives, series, TV timeouts, quarter breaks, half-time, etc.)
• On game day, the defensive or offensive analyst will be an active participant in the coaching process by providing real-time analysis of the opponent's offensive and or defensive strategy.
  

Recruiting:

• Assist the Head Coach, Coordinators, and the Coaching Staff with the identification of prospects and recruiting organization.
• Assist with the recruiting of defensive or offensive players, including evaluating high school, junior college, and transfer portal talent.
• The analyst collaborates with the coordinator and position coaches to determine the program's offensive recruiting needs for each recruiting cycle. This involves analyzing current roster needs.
• Analyze recruits’ game film and provide evaluations to the offensive or defensive coaching staff.
• Participate in recruiting meetings, provide input on offensive or defensive prospects, and assist with on-campus recruiting visits.
• Working with the coaching staff, the analyst helps define and refine the recruiting priorities based on the team’s offensive or defensive scheme and philosophy.
• Maintain and track recruiting databases, ensuring the recruitment strategy aligns with team goals and positional needs
• The analyst may assist in integrating advanced analytics into the recruiting process by identifying statistical trends that are correlated with offensive or defensive success.
• Analyst may be involved in preparing or presenting specific aspects of the offense’s or defense's game plan to give recruits a strong sense of how they would fit into the program.
• Assist with operations and execution of on-campus recruiting visits (unofficial, official, summer camps, etc.)
  

Day-to-Day / Academics Responsibilities:

• Maintain and distribute the daily, weekly, and seasonal practice schedule
• Enter scouting reports, player evaluations and game analysis into the appropriate databases or software systems. Ensure data is kept up-to-date, categorized and readily accessible for future reference.
• Provide general office support for the defensive or offensive coaching staff, such as drafting correspondence, preparing meeting materials, and make sure staff and players have the necessary resources (e.g., equipment, supplies) to perform their roles efficiently.
• Ensure players are aware of academic requirements and deadlines related to their eligibility and progress toward graduation.
• Ensure student-athletes attend study hall and utilize academic resources.
• Encourage and promote excellence in academics, athletics, and life-skills to student-athletes.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelors Degree
• Experience work with a collegiate football program within student-athlete development/academic support/or coaching
• Knowledgeable and ability to comply with NCAA/Sun Belt rules and regulations
• Knowledge for University policies and procedures
• Incumbent must be skilled in managing and organizing personnel, equipment, and material resources in order to provide the most efficient working environment.
