Job Description

The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for a Football Strength and Conditioning Specialist. This is a full-time (probationary and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 250 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: The Football Strength and Conditioning Specialist is responsible for providing administrative support to the Football Strength and Conditioning (S&C) Coaches regarding various aspects of strength and conditioning initiatives including, but not limited to student-athlete nutrition, refueling, GPS monitoring, body weight and sleep monitoring, message board postings and related analytics. This position will require frequent work in the evenings and on weekends.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • CSCCa Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) or NSCA Strength and Conditioning Coach certification (CSCS);
  • Minimum one year experience at the Division I collegiate level, working in a strength and conditioning unit or role with experience in sport nutrition and refueling, athlete monitoring and data analytics;
  • Experience implementing corrective exercise including functional movement screening;
  • Proficiency with athletic performance analytics, recovery technologies and GPS monitoring;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
