Minimum Requirements:

Position Description:
The General Manager for Player Personnel will assume primary management responsibility for football recruiting, player evaluation, and acquisition. Carrying out this responsibility in accordance with the University’s policies and leadership expectations, while also adhering to specific financial, legal, and policy requirements for Athletics. The General Manager for Player Personnel will collaborate with the Head Coach on all aspects of talent acquisition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Revenue Generation and Cost Management:
Ensure the football program adheres to its annual budget as set and approved together with the AD and the director of finance, including potential scholarships and/or any revenue-sharing allocations that UofL may decide to provide.
Support revenue generation activities in coordination with the AD and the Head of Revenue. Assist in securing additional sponsorship/corporate partnerships revenue for the department.
Support development activities in close collaboration with AD, (e.g.: Improve annual giving, increase annual giving of football student-athlete alumni, attempt to endow all coaching positions and the GM position in consultation and with the support of the University’s President, increase the number of ADC members, and increase the number of endowed scholarships offered in the football program, represent the football program and athletics department at alumni and development functions that advance community building and financial support to the department, including but not limited to coach’s swings, board meetings, small group salons, and individual meetings).
Recruiting and Roster Management:
Day-to-day oversight and direction of the University’s high school and college scouting and recruiting departments.
Work with Athletics Compliance to ensure that football’s roster does not exceed the compliance Roster Management Plan Cap.
Work with Athletics to evaluate the Roster Management Plan Cap.
Review and approve selection of season-by-season finale rosters, including but not limited to student-athletes on scholarship (and if UofL participates in revenue sharing, which have NIL agreements). If UofL participates in revenue sharing, lead engagement with student-athletes around NIL licensing deal terms.
Student-Athlete Performance:
Consult and coordinate to review sports science, medical staff, and mental health support.
Advise on potential upgrades to personnel and resources, assisting with fundraising efforts as needed to ensure cost coverage/budget feasibility.
Promote an environment where student-athletes are engaged within the University community and external to the campus, when appropriate.
Review and oversee scheduling, policies, rules, and regulations in the operation of the off-season conditioning program, organized team activities, spring and preseason camps, and practice schedules.
Compliance:
Adhere to all NCAA rules and regulations, consulting regularly with Compliance Services.
Ensure that all activities related to recruitment, eligibility, and scholarships comply with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations, minimizing risks related to compliance violations. No engagement in any off-campus recruiting. For example, do not participate in any off-campus contacts or evaluations or otherwise trigger NCAA “countable coach” status.
Operate in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and policies, including but not limited to NCAA, Conference, Title IX, Title VII, etc., and create a culture of compliance and an environment that supports knowledge, recognition, and compliance with applicable laws, rules, and policies.
Ensure coaching staff and support personnel take part in regular training on NCAA policies, relevant laws, and best practices in compliance and ethics.
Academics & Admissions:
Support football student-athletes as they enter the ACC.
Improve the football program’s relationship with faculty, staff, and other campus constituencies and relationships, especially with Financial Aid and Student Affairs.
Consult with Academics on annual reporting to ULA on statistics of recruits for any pilot programs and other admissions activities.
Improve the relationship between the football program and the office of admissions; coordinate who will be the point of contact relative to submissions for review by admissions.
Develop a strong working relationship with the faculty athletics representative.
Uphold the academic standards, requirements, and policies of the University for student-athletes and ensure the Football Program is conducted in a manner that enables student-athletes to perform to their highest academic potential.
Advocate for and prioritizes mental health resources and wellness programs for student-athletes.
Name, Image, & Likeness :
Communicate and engage with the 502 Collective, other organizations associated with football, or other third-party NIL advisors in accordance with university policies and NCAA regulations. Note: such engagement cannot include any employment, advisory, or consulting services, or any donation activity to any NIL collective associated with UofL football.
Coordinate with Government Affairs on federal and state legislative efforts in the NIL space.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field and ten (10) or more years of experience with a Power Four Football program.
Significant knowledge of higher education, with specific experience in the operations of a large, complex organization.
Outstanding critical thinking and judgment skills; ability to make well-reasoned decisions in support of institutional and presidential priorities.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
