Graduate Assistant Cheer Coach
2025-2026
University of the Incarnate Word is a Catholic institution that welcomes to its community persons of diverse backgrounds, in the belief that their respectful interaction advances the discovery of truth, mutual understanding, self-realization, and the common good.
The Graduate Assistant Cheer Coach is responsible for coaching the cheer program at the University of the Incarnate Word including tryouts, training, coordination, and scheduling as well as game-day responsibilities including but not limited to; performances, pre-game and in-game appearances, half time performances. This position will also assist in the try outs, training and coordination of the mascot. This position reports to the Student-Athlete Development Coordinator.
This is a student position open to current
UIW
graduate students.
Coordinate, choregraph and lead practice times, while managing practice schedule in alignment with facilities.
Coordinate appearances and performances at other sporting events.
Equipment management.
Support overall spirit enrichment in collaboration of the mascot.
Game and practice video.
Manage paperwork and budgets associated with the program.
Manage community service, team events and social media.
Manage administrative tasks in regard to the team, and team budget.
Follow the mission of the university.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
| Knowledge Skills and Abilities |
- Excellent oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other computer skills.
- Ability to anticipate needs and provide solutions.
- Ability to perform well in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the university, conference, and the NCAA.

| Required Education |
Current or incoming UIW graduate student.
|
| Required Work Experience |
At least two (2) years of experience on a college cheer team, and previous experience coaching a cheer team at any level.

None.

| Work Hours |
Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
|
| Physical Demands |
Ability to lift equipment, tools, and/or materials weighing up to 25 pounds waist-high.
