Bachelor’s degree
The desired interest to work in the sport industry, specifically collegiate athletics. Must have basic customer service and communication skills as this position will need to communicate with the public effectively. Should be aware of the urgency of specific projects and the importance that their deadlines are met.
Standard office machines; computer skills
Bachelor’s degree in sport management, marketing, business, public relations, or related field.
Have previous collegiate athletic experience whether playing or administration or communications experience. Have some supervision experience is a plus.
The ability to use Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, etc.). Social media and graphic design skills are also a plus.
Summary
Function: Sul Ross State University, an NCAA Division II institution located in Alpine, Texas, and a member of the Lonestar Conference, is currently seeking qualified applicants for a graduate assistant position in the department of athletics. SRSU sponsors 12 men’s and women’s athletic teams.
Scope: The successful applicant will work closely with the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, Athletics Business Coordinator and Director of Athletics in generating a successful fan experience. In this role, the successful applicant will be serving as the primary marketing contact for SRSU athletics.
Duties
Essential: Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, overseeing all home sporting event operations; assist with recruiting, hiring and managing of athletic interns and student-workers; creating new strategies to market and promote SRSU athletics; consolidate ticket operations; assist with community outreach; writing public address and promotional scripts; update and maintain social media accounts; and other duties as assigned.

Received: Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, Athletics Business Coordinator, and Director of Athletics
Working Conditions
Usual: Office conditions; standard hours. May work evenings, weekends and some holidays.
Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times. Position is security sensitive.
Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.

The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in On-Campus Student Housing Facilities; in Noncampus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University or a recognized student organization; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.
