Position Summary
The Sports Communication Graduate Assistant at Upper Iowa University reports directly to the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Communication and is responsible for assisting in the planning and executing of all aspects and facets of a successful sports communication office at the NCAA Division II level. This position involves writing press releases, managing social media platforms, coordinating media coverage, maintaining the Upper Iowa Athletics website (UIUPeacocks.com), taking statistics during home events and other duties as assigned. The GA will work to maintain a strong public presence for the university’s 16 athletic programs while ensuring that all content aligns with the university's branding and communication strategies. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a strong desire to learn and contribute to the athletic department's success. The graduate assistant will be the primary contact for several sports programs at UIU and the secondary contact for the remaining ones. The graduate assistant will ensure compliance with all Department, University, NCAA, and GLVC policies, procedures, and regulations.
