The Head Athletic Coach, under the direction of the Athletic Director, plays an integral role in the design, development, implementation and interpretation of departmental processes and/or programs. The Head Men’s Tennis Coach’s primary responsibility is the coaching and instruction of the sport of Tennis. Approximately 60% of the Coach’s responsibility is dedicated to the instruction of Tennis through on-field (or on-court) training and classroom training through the use of video and other teaching techniques. Approximately 40% of the Coach’s responsibility is recruiting and other administrative duties.
Essential Duties

The Head Coach is responsible for directing the activities related to the Men’s Tennis program to include: coaching, planning, organizing, recruiting, and adherence to budgets and rules as defined by UNF, ASUN Conference, and the NCAA. 1. Coach student-athletes in Tennis at UNF. a) Use working knowledge of skills to prepare game and practice plans to benefit the growth of the student-athlete in their chosen sport. b) Assist and encourage student-athlete in their pursuit of academic and athletic excellence. c) Oversee the academic progress of the student-athlete in conjunction with the Academic Advisor. d) Counsel all student-athletes as needed in academic, disciplinary and personal matters. 2. Maintains adherence to college sport regulations, policy and accreditation procedures and follow UNF, ASUN, and NCAA rules and regulations in all aspects of running the program 3. Oversee and direct recruitment of student athletes on behalf of the athletic program. 4. Organize, plan and conduct team practices and games. 5. Scout prospective athletes at various sporting events. 6. Represent UNF in professional, civic, and charity and alumni events. 7. Serve as program’s contact for administrators in regards to budget, rules compliance, and other duties customarily designed with a Head Coach. 8. Adheres to all institution, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. 9. Reports all known NCAA violations in accordance with institutional, conference, and NCAA policies and guidelines.

May assist in other athletic programs as determined by the Athletic Director. Solicitation of outside income for the Men’s Tennis program. Attendance at Osprey Club fund raising projects. Public speaking at civic clubs, etc. to promote the overall athletic program. It is an expectation of the Athletic Director that coaches and administrative/support staff will support, to a reasonable extent, the activities of sports within the total program via attendance at scheduled events.

This position requires either (a) Master’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; (b) Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and four years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 8 years of direct experience.

| Departmental Requirements |
Must have demonstrated ability to lead and direct a sports program; working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; good oral and written communication skills; and strong organizational skills. Coaching experience at the Division I level is preferred along with collegiate playing experience.

The holder of this position is responsible for any NCAA and Atlantic Sun Conference bylaws and guidelines that a member of the UNF Athletic Compliance Department provides in addition to all UNF regulations. The individual must also assure that NCAA, Conference and UNF regulations are followed to the best of their knowledge and any violations thereof are reported to UNF Athletic Compliance.
Campus Security Authority (CSA) This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). This position has been designated as a CSA because it involves significant responsibility for student and campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that your responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make you someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSAs responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in-person training session. The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role under Title IX. Therefore, the incumbent must promptly report allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse by or against any student, employee, contractor, or visitor to the University’s Title IX Administrator or any divisional Title IX Coordinator.
