Description: King University is accepting applications for a Head Athletic Trainer at its Bristol, Tennessee, campus. The Head Athletic Trainer provides leadership and oversight of the athletic training staff and the daily operations of the University’s athletic training program. This role ensures the health, safety, and performance of student-athletes by coordinating prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. The Head Athletic Trainer also collaborates closely with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, team physicians, and University administration to support student-athlete wellbeing and compliance with all applicable regulations.
Minimum Qualifications: · Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Education, or related field. · Certified by, and in good standing with, the Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC). · Eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Tennessee. · Demonstrated experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer, with a record of leadership in an academic or athletic setting. · Strong knowledge of NCAA and athletic training regulations and standards of care. · Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills. · Commitment to the mission and values of King University.
Preferred Qualifications: · Terminal degree in Athletic Training or related field. · Experience serving as Head Athletic Trainer, Clinical Coordinator, or Curriculum Director in a collegiate setting. · Experience supervising athletic training staff, interns, or graduate assistants. · Background in coordinating compliance with the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) standards. · Experience working collaboratively with physicians, coaches, and administrators in a higher education setting.
Responsibilities: · Provide leadership and supervision for the athletic training staff, graduate assistants, and student interns. · Coordinate and deliver comprehensive athletic training services, including prevention, evaluation, emergency care, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. · Manage daily operations of the athletic training facilities, including scheduling, coverage, and inventory control. · Develop and implement policies and procedures consistent with NCAA, conference, and institutional guidelines. · Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations. · Coordinate medical care and referrals in consultation with team physicians and other healthcare professionals. · Oversee the ordering, maintenance, and inventory of athletic training supplies and equipment. · Provide coverage for home and away athletic events as needed. · Collaborate with strength and conditioning staff and coaches on injury prevention and return-to-play protocols. · Lead ongoing professional development and training for athletic training staff. · Ensure compliance with all state licensure requirements and maintain standing with the Board of Certification, Inc.
