East Texas A&M University Lion Athletics is seeking a dynamic and energetic Part-Time Division I Cheer Coach to lead our cheer team in creating an electric game-day atmosphere. This position prioritizes fan engagement, crowd interaction, and school spirit to enhance the overall game-day experience for students, alumni, and fans. The coach will collaborate with marketing, spirit groups, and game operations to ensure that the cheer team and mascot play a central role in energizing the crowd, executing game traditions, and representing the university with pride.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement engaging crowd leadership strategies to maximize fan participation at games and events.
Coordinate game-day performances, sideline routines, and in-game promotions to enhance the atmosphere.
Work closely with the dance, pep band, mascot, and athletics marketing team to execute traditions and interactive moments.
Train and mentor cheerleaders on crowd engagement techniques and game-time presence.
Oversee the university mascot program, including character development, game-day performances, and fan interaction.
Assist in planning spirit rallies, pep events, and community outreach initiatives to boost school spirit.
Ensure safe, high-energy performances while maintaining NCAA, conference, and university regulations.
Serve as a liaison between the cheer program and university stakeholders to promote spirit initiatives.
Support recruiting efforts by fostering a positive and enthusiastic cheer culture that attracts top talent.
Manage all team aspects: budget, schedule, practices, recruiting, and travel.
Fundraise annually to enhance the program.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Experience in cheerleading coaching, game-day operations, mascot management, or spirit coordination at the collegiate level. Strong knowledge of crowd engagement strategies, game-day traditions, and fan interaction techniques. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to: Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for games and events. Knowledge of NCAA and conference cheer regulations.
Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid driver’s license. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with large crowds, student sections, and game-day marketing teams. Familiarity with stunt safety regulations, mascot character development, and cheer program oversight.
