Summary:
The Head Cheer Coach directs all aspects of the program including coordination of spirit events, the recruitment and retention of quality cheer student-athletes; scheduling and management of practices, preparation for on-court performances, fiscal management of operating budget; skill and technique development; donor fundraising; alumni and community relations; coordination of youth engagement experiences; and possible additional duties within the Department of Athletics. The successful candidate must be able to develop positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, media, alumni, and donors while interacting successfully with department personnel and the college community. The Head Cheer Coach must manage the cheer program in compliance with all GLVC, NCAA, and University of Illinois Springfield rules and regulations, while aligning the management of the cheer program with the mission of UIS.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. Active US Cheer Safety & Risk Management Certification or similar required.
Experience as a cheerleader or coach, or equivalent experience in a related field required. Demonstrated strong communication and leadership skills required. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cheer coaching and/or collegiate cheer experience preferred.
