Job Description:
The Head Cheer Coach is a member of the Department of Athletics and is responsible for operating a cheer program and being committed to the university's academic mission. The coach provides coaching, recruitment, and retention for students participating as cheer team members.
Manage all aspects of the cheer program, including practices, coaching staff, equipment, facilities, travel, university mascot, and competitions.
Recruit prospective student-athletes for enrollment at the University.
Observe and evaluate the training of student-athletes to determine the need for individual improvement.
Plan practices, including team and individual workouts.
Other interactions include but are not limited to individual meetings with students to establish goals, check-ins with team members and university resources about academic performance, and references to help with life skills and career development like job shadowing and internships, etc.
Promote a culture of inclusion, working effectively within a culture of individuals with diverse backgrounds, styles, abilities, and motivations.
Responsible for compliance within the cheer program.
Works cooperatively with athletic department personnel, campus community members, alums, and donors.
Follow state, regional, and national regulations governing the program.
Contribute to the overall success of the University's intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree
One to three years of cheer experience
Preferred successful coaching at the collegiate level
