Coaching

• Plan, organize and conduct individual and team practices, training and competitions.
• Teach and implement skills and strategies.

• Demonstrate a sincere interest in the academic, personal, and physical welfare of each student-athlete; council team members and consult with appropriate College staff as necessary for resolution of issues.
• Remain current with the latest technological advances in ski equipment and waxing.
• Manage the procurement and inventory of team equipment, wax, supplies and uniforms.
• Contribute positively to the goals of the College and educational experience of student-athletes.
• Ensure program and athlete compliance with NCAA and Ivy League rules.

| Description |
Recruiting

• Communicate frequently and effectively with the Associate Director of Athletics and admissions representatives to coordinate recruitment activity.
• Develop and implement an overall recruiting plan, including, but not limited to:
• Identifying qualified student and talented athletes;
• Communicating with prospects by phone, mail, e-mail;
• Maintain knowledge of the College’s programs and opportunities to effectively inform prospects.
• Contribute to the recruitment goals of the College.

| Description |
Administration

• In consultation with the Director of Skiing, is responsible for ensuring compliance with NCAA and Ivy League rules, regulations, and reporting requirements for ski program activities.
• Assist in the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of alpine program assistant.
• Coordinate travel arrangements for competition, training and professional travel.
• Responsible for coordinating competitive events such as the Dartmouth Winter Carnival.
• Responsible for financial management of appropriate aspects of the program.
• Work cooperatively and effectively with numerous College offices, groups and personnel.
• Work cooperatively and effectively with the Dartmouth Skiway or Outdoor Programs Office, and Athletic Department.
• Maintain and supervise the team ski room, coach’s equipment workshop and locker rooms.
• Serve on various NCAA, EISA, USSA and FIS skiing and collegiate committees.

| Description |
Alumni and Public Relations

• Represent Dartmouth and the Ski Program in a positive manner to various internal and external constituencies including students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, community, media, etc.
• Assist with the production of media materials.
• Actively promote Dartmouth and the Ski Program.
• Develop alumni interest in and support for the Friends of Dartmouth Skiing through alumni events, regular communication and other means.
• Effectively encourage financial donations to the program.
