Job Summary:

The Head Coach of Men's Basketball is responsible for leading the men’s basketball program as an intercollegiate sport at Regis University. This includes overseeing all administrative and organizational aspects of operating an NCAA Division II men’s basketball program in alignment with the University’s mission and its philosophy of intercollegiate athletics.

The Head Coach will guide and actively encourage student-athletes to succeed academically, acquire a degree and represent Regis University with the highest integrity. The Head Coach directly supervises all assistant coaches, student-athletes, and managers. The person in this role is also responsible for budget development and administration, recruitment of student-athletes, adherence to NCAA, Conference and RU regulations regarding recruiting, admission standards and eligibility, monitoring student-athlete academic progress, the scheduling of athletic practices and contests, and the establishment of effective media relations. In addition, the Head Coach will play a leading role in fundraising activities and serve as a representative of the University to the outside community when appropriate.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Coach and schedule games, practices, and conditioning : Responsible for the content and organization of the overall program (All offenses, defenses, fundamentals and techniques, game strategies, and knowledge of all aspects of the sport). Schedule non-conference games in conjunction with the Senior Deputy Director of Athletics for Finance.

2) Recruit qualified student-athletes : Actively recruit student-athletes to meet RU’s philosophy and admission standards and enrollment goals.

3) Supervise all student-athletes : coordinate and plan a program of practices and competition, with a concern for the players’ health and welfare, physical and psychological preparation.
