Position Summary :
Wheeling University is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual for the position of Head Coach of the Men’s Golf Team. The Head Coach will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program, including coaching, recruiting, player development, team management, and fostering a positive student-athlete experience. This is a part-time position.Â

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop and implement a competitive golf program that aligns with the university’s mission and athletic goals.
• Provide instruction, training, and mentorship to student-athletes to enhance their technical skills, physical conditioning, and mental preparation.
• Recruit and retain high-quality student-athletes who excel both on the golf course and in the classroom.
• Manage all aspects of team operations, including practice schedules, game strategies, travel arrangements, and budget management.
• Ensure compliance with NCAA regulations, university policies, and conference guidelines.
• Foster a positive and supportive team culture that encourages academic achievement, personal growth, and athletic success.
• Collaborate with the athletics department, academic advisors, and other university departments to support the well-being and success of student-athletes.
• Represent the university in a professional manner at competitions, events, and public engagements.

• Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and work to ensure their success in the classroom.
• Promote and grow the Men’s Golf program both on campus and within the local and regional communities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Qualifications

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred).
• Previous coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.
• Strong knowledge of the game of golf, including technique, strategy, and rules.
• Proven track record in recruiting and developing student-athletes.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of NCAA regulations and a commitment to compliance.
• Passion for coaching and mentoring student-athletes.
