Position Summary: The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of the Westmont STUNT program. In addition to on court coaching activities, this job includes administrative, recruiting and fundraising responsibilities.

Requirements: Master’s degree and 2-5 years of related coaching experience preferred. Requires personal affirmation of the Christian mission of Westmont College and the Community Life Statement and adherence to its behavioral expectations. Must be able to successfully lead and mentor students relative to their Christian faith. Also requires: ability to teach and coach student athletes (team and individual), to inspire and motivate student athletes, ability to foster relations with internal staff and student athletes, and to manage and maintain confidential and private information. Role requires: effective interpersonal, written, and electronic communications skills, including the ability to convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural groups, computer proficiency using software and enterprise systems appropriate for the complexities of the role and its functions.

Responsibilities include:

Organizes and conducts practices. Ensures proper strength and conditioning program in collaboration with the Sports Performance Coach. Prepares and manages budget in coordination with the A.D.’s office. This position is directly accountable to the management of the programs operating budget. Orders equipment and supplies by following proper procedure outlined in operations manual. Submits travel requests to Assistant AD for Operations. Plans departure time for a safe and timely arrival. Prepares schedule and submits to AD’s office for approval, with special attention to ensuring that student-athletes miss a minimal amount of class time. Works in collaboration with Associate AD for Compliance to provide all required information on both recruits and rostered players. Provides accurate roster to the Assistant AD for Operations and Associate AD for Communication at the beginning of each season. Recruits student-athletes for STUNT. Recommends amount of athletic scholarship for all players. Keeps records of all financial aid given to comply with Conference limitations and reporting requirements.

Maintains a database of recruits, alumni, current team members and other key constituents. In conjunction with Associate AD for Compliance informs all team members of specific eligibility regulations and counsels them regarding their responsibility to maintain eligibility. Keeps an accurate inventory of supplies and equipment. An inventory should be completed at the end of season and be made available upon request by A.D. Informs athletic training staff of practice times, gametimes and uniform/laundry needs. Maintains current knowledge of all current NCAA and PacWest rules, policies, and deadlines governing STUNT. Ensures all athletes have passed a medical examination and have completed all medical/insurance forms. Works with ATC and team physician following an injury for clearance prior to resuming activity. Ensures that all athletes sign the Code of Conduct document annually. Submits and manages documentation for all conference, all-Americans, academic all-Americans and special awards candidates. Responsible for the conduct, public image and adherence to behavioral expectations of student athletes and the team. Ensures the A.D.’s office is informed of violation(s) and disciplinary action taken. Attends PacWest Coach’s meetings. Responsible for fundraising activities in connection with the Director of Advancement for Athletics. Enthusiastically and effectively promotes the college and STUNT program in the community and with alumni. Works with Admissions to ensure that applicants interested in STUNT are treated professionally and responded to in a timely manner. Provides spiritual leadership to team consistent with the Westmont’s evangelical Christian tradition. Plays a significant role in the spiritual development of the student athlete.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$28.28/hr

$35.35/hr The pay range posted for this job opening reflects what Westmont College reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, education, training, skill level, and market conditions.
