Five years of successful previous collegiate coaching experience.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
Continually nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; serve as a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Azusa Pacific; and faithfully uphold and embrace Azusa Pacific’s mission and “What We Believe” statements.
Establish and articulate a clear and fundamentally sound Christian philosophy for the football program, aligning with the university's mission.
Develop and implement a discipleship plan for football student-athletes.
Lead an integral, winning, and competitive culture accomplishing measurable results.
Hire and annually submit written evaluations of assistant coaches who fit the university’s mission and faith expectations while implementing a professional development program that aids their growth.
Organize and manage the budget, equipment, and schedule of the program.
Properly evaluate and recruit student-athletes who meet university academic and social expectations, while satisfying NCAA and SCIAC eligibility standards.
Establish individual and team skill development as the fundamental teaching focus for the program.
Monitor and support student-athletes’ academic progress in consultation with the assistant athletics director of compliance and academic support.
Understand and adhere to NCAA and SCIAC regulations regarding the administration of the sport.
Develop, organize, and grow an annual summer youth camp program for the sport.
Abide by third-party contracts (i.e. BSN/Nike) by which the university and/or department are bound.
Serve the university, Alumni Relations, and Advancement in personal appearances and engagements that promote the university and its mission.
Assist in fundraising for the program, department, and university.
Participate in the annual university-wide Giving Day.
Attend all department meetings as directed by the Director of Athletics.
Performs other duties as required by the Director of Athletics.

Evidence of a strong commitment to an evangelical Christian philosophy and lifestyle.
Excellent knowledge of current thinking in areas of sports techniques and strategy, conditioning, fitness, leadership, and program management.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and disciple student-athletes.
Demonstrated proficiency in the rules and regulations of the NCAA.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to exercise good judgment and discretionary skills in determining when to act independently and when to consult management prior to taking action.
Strong written and verbal skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Self-starter with a positive attitude and demonstrated loyalty to the staff, program, and university.

Technologies
Proficient in Google Apps., Microsoft Office, web-based sport-specific, compliance, and finance programs (i.e.Hudl, JumpForward, PeopleSoft, Adaptive, etc.)
Compensation
Grade 21: $122,312 to $140,659 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitivebenefits package.
