Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking a Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track Coach for a Division I program. This role will be responsible for the following:

• Devote full-time attention and energies to the duties of Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track Coach in coaching, teaching, and imparting knowledge and the preparation to impart knowledge such as; practice planning, tactical and game strategizing.
• Support, encouragement and mentorship of student-athletes; monitor and advise in regards to the academic excellence of student-athletes.
• Impart skill knowledge to student-athletes in both individual and team training sessions.
• Collaboration with strength and conditioning coaches on development of training plans for student-athletes; communicate and collaborate with sports medicine staff to ensure the health and safety of the student-athletes.
• Recruit student-athletes that possess the athletic, academic and leadership values consistent with The Citadel.
• Responsible for decision making and administrative reporting in accordance with running the Cross Country/Track and Field Programs.
• Supervise and manage the daily activities of managers and trainers; provide mentorship and guidance; teach sport related skills and tactical decision making; provide evaluation and performance improvement plans when required.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree is required. Must be highly organized and have strong leadership and communication skills. The Citadel demands a thorough knowledge and adherence to institutional, Southern Conference and NCAA rules. Previous experience as a player and coach and a thorough knowledge of the skills required to teach Collegiate Cross Country/Track and Field are required.
