The Head Rifle Coach at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) serves as a key leader within the Alaska Nanooks Athletics Department, overseeing all facets of the university’s nationally acclaimed NCAA rifle program. This role supports the department’s mission to promote both academic and athletic excellence, providing student-athletes with a competitive and supportive environment grounded in integrity, teamwork, and community involvement. As one of the most successful programs in collegiate rifle history, the Nanooks rifle team exemplifies UAF’s commitment to championship-level performance and the comprehensive development of its student-athletes.

Success as the Head Rifle Coach for the Alaska Nanooks requires substantial experience in competitive rifle shooting—preferably at the collegiate or national level—paired with a demonstrated track record of coaching achievement. The role demands strong leadership and organizational abilities to effectively oversee all facets of the program, including athlete development, recruitment, compliance, and day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will be committed to supporting student-athlete academic success, fostering a positive and inclusive team environment, and navigating NCAA regulations with a solid understanding of collegiate athletics.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and four years of NCAA Coaching experience

Position Details:

This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience.

A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.
