coaching philosophy. Given that men’s basketball at the NCAA DI level is very competitive and requires student athletes who not only have the ability and desire to succeed, but who also will thrive in Lipscomb’s academic and campus environment, talent/personnel evaluation and recruiting ability are critical in this position. Demonstrated ability as a recruiter, especially at a high level, is preferred.
Recruiting:
Leading the recruitment of qualified student-athletes who are a fit for Lipscomb University through correspondence with student athletes identified as
prospects, attendance at selected events for evaluation of prospects, establishing positive relationships with coaches and others in men’s basketball community in order to assist in evaluations, use of rankings, video and other means of determining basketball ability, organizing and conducting recruiting visits, as needed. All of this will be done in strict compliance with NCAA, ASUN and Lipscomb University rules and regulations.
Operational duties:
To include scheduling (in conjunction with the AD) and travel arrangements for practices, games and other men’s basketball related events; ordering
of equipment and other items as needed for men’s basketball; other operational or managerial responsibilities as needed. All of this will be done in strict compliance with
NCAA, ASUN and Lipscomb University rules and regulations.
Coaching duties:
Practice planning, organization and coaching; game planning, in-game coaching; counseling student-athletes and promoting their academic, civic, and spiritual progress. All of this will be done in strict compliance with NCAA, ASUN and Lipscomb University rules and regulations.
Fundraising and Promotion:
Assisting with promotion of, attendance at and/or awareness of fundraising activities related to the men’s basketball program, Lipscomb University Athletics and Lipscomb University as a whole. Activities may include:
Community Building Activities:
As directed by Director of Athletics, Assoc. AD for External Affairs for Development, assistance in directing Lipscomb University men’s basketball involvement with individuals or partners on program-improvement projects and initiatives, camp opportunities, fundraising, development and cultivation
opportunities for the University, community awareness programming, campus engagement and other opportunities as may arise that will benefit Lipscomb University Athletics and the University as a whole.
