The Menlo College Athletics Department seeks applications for the position of Head Softball Coach. This is a full-time, 11-month, exempt position, and reports jointly to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Business & HR Management / SWA, and the Vice President and Director of Athletics. The description of responsibilities below is intended to be a descriptive but not necessarily all-inclusive list of responsibilities.
The Head Softball Coach is responsible for the recruitment and retention of student-athletes and program development to produce successful individual and team performance. The individual must be committed to a holistic approach to developing student-athletes as leaders in the classroom, in the community, and on the court.
The Head Softball Coach must be able to provide leadership, management, and strategic planning for the women’s volleyball program. That includes budgeting, fundraising, staffing and staff development, supervision of program implementation, facilities planning and management, and evaluation of program effectiveness.
The position will abide by all the NCAA Division II, PacWest Conference, and Menlo College Athletics Department rules and regulations. Failure to follow NCAA, conference or Menlo College rules will result in my immediate dismissal from all duties.

Accountable for assisting in the overall management of the Athletics Department, including administrative duties and the care and leadership of the Softball team. The Head Softball Coach must abide by all applicable NCAA, athletic conference (PacWest), and Menlo College Athletics Department rules and regulations.
● Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred in related field.
● Strong interpersonal and organizational skills as well as written and oral communication skills.
● A thorough knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
● 3-5 years coaching experience at the intercollegiate level.
● A dedication to the success of student-athletes in their academic and athletic endeavors, and a commitment to integrity, general equity, and diversity.
● Ability to supervise, direct, and manage the Softball program.
● Ability to work non-traditional schedules, including nights and weekends.
● Prior fund-raising experience preferred.

Athletics features prominently at Menlo, with more than 50% of students participating as varsity athletes, and yet more students engaged in athletics through club, intramural, and recreation sports. The Department of Athletics strives to complement the Menlo College experience by developing future leaders through its intercollegiate athletics program. Talented and driven coaching and support staff recruit student-athletes who display leadership skills, strong character, a commitment to academics and a high level of athletic skill. With quality programs, the department is a source of pride for the College and the surrounding community; in the most recently-completed full season, we recorded six team conference titles, two national team titles, nine individual national championships, and 21 All Conference awardees — the best year in the College’s 96-year history. We expect better years to still be ahead.
