DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinates the overall physical strength, cardiovascular conditioning, position-specific agility, and speed development programming for D1 hockey including program mission and annual development goals.
  2. In compliance with applicable NCAA Policy, Interassociation Guidelines, and/or Consensus Guidelines and in conjunction with the use of performance data and analytics: develops strength and conditioning programs for specific training phases with program review as needed; reviews strength and conditioning programs designed by staff with additional review as needed.
  3. Maintains a program-wide record system that will allow for the monitoring of hockey student-athlete programming and student-athlete progress in strength and conditioning development.
  4. Coordinates or assists in coordinating and participating in meetings as assigned with staff members representing athletic training, sports nutrition, sports psychology, and student-athlete development.
  5. Analyzes available data on strength and conditioning of new and returning student athletes to identify potential levels of physical ability.
  6. Tests athletes to evaluate performance level and desired areas of improvement. Implements appropriate sport specific exercises, exercise sequences, sets, repetitions, recovery periods, load, frequency, and intensity.
  7. Works directly with hockey student-athletes to motivate them regarding the importance of strength and conditioning programs and injury prevention.
  8. Develops and implements professional hockey preparation programs such as strength, speed, and position-specific drills and testing for draft-eligible student-athletes.
  9. Leads and participates in regular periodic staff meetings for all sports performance staff.
  10. Works with the athletic training staff to assist in the execution of prevention and rehabilitation programs as necessary.
  11. Works under the direction of the sports nutrition staff to assist in the execution of training table, fueling stations and nutrition education programming for as well as safe and healthy techniques related to achieving body composition and performance goals.
  12. Maintains a fiscally responsible budget for the strength and conditioning development of student-athletes.
  13. Develops and maintains student-athlete records and reporting via contemporary athlete management software.
  14. Records game statistics as required and presents statistics and analysis as requested.
  15. Promotes programs as assigned at requested times including but not limited to the recruitment of prospective student athletes.
