The Strength & Conditioning Coach is under limited supervision, supervises weight room, provides expertise, guidance, and training in the area of strength and conditioning for all student athletes and sport teams at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Has overall responsibility for compliance of University policies and procedures and state or federal mandates for responsibility areas.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors
Schedule strength and conditioning workouts in cooperation with the head coach of each specific sport.
Set up the schedule of strength and conditioning workouts for each sports team at SWOSU (i.e. individual and team training sessions, etc.).
Be present and punctual for all workouts with student athletes (Any change in a scheduled workout must be approved by the head coach of each sport).
Provide athletes with guidance and proper training techniques for free weights and other strength training equipment.
Provide expertise in the area of strength (weight) training and physical conditioning as requested by the head coaches in all sports on campus.
Maintain the athletic weight room and keep records of all equipment in the weight room.
Update the Athletic Director on equipment needs and/or upgrades recommended providing SWOSU athletes with the best possible strength training equipment available.
Maintain up-to-date records on the strength program of each team and specific individual workouts of every student-athlete.
Return all phone calls and emails to head coaches and administrative staff promptly.
Monitor and keep normal working hours during the summer.
Abide in all NCAAcompliance regulations concerning the strength and conditioning coach.
Notify Athletic Director or Human Resources of any potentially dangerous equipment, practices, or violations of safety procedures.
Supervise and assign work to all Graduate Assistants and student assistants.

** Work Setting:**
Expectation of on-campus presence with attendance and punctuality.
Reports to the Athletic Director.
Available to assist with situations during or after working hours whether in-person, by phone, or email contact.
Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe work environment.
Full-time status.
12-month appointment.
- Must achieve and maintain minimum training requirements in First Aid and CPR within the first six months of employment.

Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in strength training or related field
Two years strength training experience with a preference in experience at the collegiate level.
NCSF Certification
A strong commitment to the student athlete concept and a working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
CSCS Certification
