Auburn University at Montgomery (
AUM
) is seeking a Head Strength & Conditioning Coach to develop, plan, implement and execute a strength & conditioning program for all of AUM’s
NCAA
teams, working closely with head coaches and the sports medicine program.
The Head Strength & Conditioning Coach will report to the Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations and will provide leadership and direction for the strength & conditioning program. This includes ensuring a safe and effective working and training environment in the Student-Athlete Performance Center, strength and conditioning program development and implementation for all teams, and working closely with head coaches of each sport and the sports medicine program, within university, conference, and
NCAA
rules and regulations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Work with coaches to establish strength & conditioning programs for all
AUM
NCAA
teams
Schedule and organize a balanced and equitable workout calendar for all teams
Supervise lifts, conditioning sessions, and other training events.
Instruct student-athletes in proper and safe weight training techniques, plyometrics, speed development drills, conditioning exercises, and agility movements that are current and scientifically valid
Monitor the safety of conditions of the
SAPC
or area in which the assigned training is conducted.
Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the
SAPC
.
Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the department and the University, as well as the rules and regulations of the
NCAA
and Gulf South Conference and any other authorities that affect the intercollegiate athletics program.
Effectively communicate with a diverse population of student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
Facilitate discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
Administer program budget and purchasing, in line with the guidelines provided by the athletic department and the Office of Financial Services.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to all aspects of the program and its management.
Hire, train and supervise a graduate assistant
Additional responsibilities to be assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations or Director of Athletics.
Knowledge of the following:
NCAA
Division II and Gulf South Conference rules and regulations
Sport-specific techniques and skills
Institutional policies, practices and procedures
Acceptable supervisory practices
Ability to:
Successfully lead, recruit and manage people
Execute strong interpersonal skills
Apply successful teaching, coaching and mentoring techniques
Effectively manage multiple teams and work under tight scheduling constraints
Capable of working under pressure
Communicate clear and concise directions
Effectively work with all departments and staff
Willingness to work nights and weekends
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
Manage budgets
Administer First Aid,
CPR
and
AED
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Holds a
NCAA
approved strength & conditioning certification
Two years of strength & conditioning experience at the high school or collegiate level
Valid driver’s license
Continued employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining
CPR
/
AED
and First Aid certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree
Three years of strength & conditioning experience at the
NCAA
level
