• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year collegiate institution.
• 3 years of basketball coaching experience at intercollegiate level with successful recruiting and a competitive winning record.
• Demonstrated commitment to rules/policy compliance and a commitment to student-athlete success both academically and athletically and overall student-athlete well-being.

Desired Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree.
• Previous NCAA DII experience.

• Master’s Degree.
• Previous NCAA DII experience.
• 5+ years of successful coaching and recruiting experience.
• Experience taking teams to post season championships.
• Experience with program administration at the intercollegiate NCAA level.

Other Qualifications:

• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation is not available for this position.
• Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU’s winter break and other holidays, if necessary.
• This position may be considered an essential position with report to work obligations depending on the type of emergency, campus closure, or evacuation.
• Meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
• Upon hire, candidate must have reliable personal transportation to facilitate travel between to all HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position. This includes a valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle that is legally registered and insured.
• This position will be require driving responsibility for an HPU vehicle. Due to driving responsibilities, you must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with HPU’s Vehicle Driving policy.
• Able to work all shifts and extended hours including standard university business hours, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
• Regular and reliable attendance for office hours and HPU events.
• Create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
• Attend to details to effectively act on policies necessary and appropriate to HPU Athletics, including: Sports Medicine Handbook, HPU Athletics Policies and Procedures Manual, HPU Compliance Manual, and the Student-Athlete Handbook. Attend to details to effectively act on policies necessary and appropriate for managing NCAA and PacWest Conference related compliance.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
1.Develop and administer a successful women’s basketball sports program (40%) - Recruiting and developing student-athletes who will thrive at HPU and successfully represent the institution academically and athletically. - Scheduling and organizing practice and contests in accordance with applicable Pacific West Conference and NCAA regulations. - Attending and coaching all games and practices. - Administering sports program budget in line with the guidelines provided by the Athletics Department and the Office of Chief Financial Officer. - Coordinating procurement of uniforms and equipment. - Making travel arrangements for both on and off-island travel. - Keeping abreast and ensuring compliance with the Pacific West Conference and NCAA regulations while maintaining highest ethical standards of conduct. - Supervising assistant coaches and other program personnel.

2.Monitor and foster student-athletes’ well-being and academic success (35%) - Monitoring student-athletes’ academic progress in collaboration with the Athletics Academic Advisor. - Developing and instituting mandatory or voluntary study programs for student-athletes. - Fostering student-athletes’ well-being through provision of a safe and a non-discriminatory environment. - Ensuring positive student-athlete experience for all athletes in the program.

1. Fundraising and Community Service Efforts (10%)
2. In conjunction with the University Relations Department, effectively organize and administer a robust fundraising schedule in a timely and efficient way.
3. Organize and participate in community service events each year.

4. Organize and engage in community engagement events each year.

5. Support operations of the HPU Athletics Department (10%)

6. Participate in department meetings and events.

7. Assist with other sports event management as needed and assigned.

8. Assist and serve on committees and sub-committees as needed.

9. Actively participate in Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) appointments and follow up communications on a regular basis.

10. Performs other related duties as assigned (5%)

• Actively participates as an effective member of team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.
• Assists with seasonal peaks.
