Job Summary
Responsible for the development, management, and successful coaching of the TAMIU women’s basketball team, to include scheduling, recruiting, equipment management, reporting scores and statistics, and website updating.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the development, management, and successful coaching of the TAMIU women’s basketball team, to include scheduling, recruiting, equipment management, reporting scores and statistics, and website updating.
Manage and operate within the budget parameters, without exception, and submit all receipts and budget reports on time as directed by the Director of Athletics.
Ensure strict adherence to all NCAA by-laws and Lone Star Conference regulations.
Ensure adherence with established institutional compliance rules, policies, and procedures as well as ethical standards of behavior.
Ensure satisfactory academic performance of student-athletes.
Ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student-athletes.
Establish and ensure a safe environment for student-athletes that includes providing education about and methods for discussing and resolving harassment or discrimination.
Contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all athletics staff members and student-athletes through a positive and constructive approach to all tasks, respect for the competencies of others and appropriate conflict resolution behavior.
Responsible for successful coaching of the TAMIU women’s basketball team, to include maximizing the team’s potential/abilities, keeping athletes eligible, and retaining athletes through graduation.
Supervise and mentor coaching assistants as directed and approved by the Director of Athletics.
Assist to propagate a comprehensive public relations program.
Manage the operations of sports camps and/or clinics.
Manage all department fund-raising and booster events in accordance with NCAA, Lone Star Conference, and institutional rules, policies, and procedures.
Learn, understand, and adhere to all NCAA guidelines and maintain up-to-date roster, squad lists, and other information using the Compliance Assistant Internet (CAI) program.
Coordinate and develop organized schedules and submit weekly countable hour reports according to NCAA policy.
Participate in long-range planning and assessment, attend all departmental training sessions and meetings, and read and comply with all departmental policy manuals.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Should teach a minimum of three (3) courses per academic year.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education required.
Experience - Two or more seasons of successful college coaching experience required, that include:
Recruiting student athletes
Marketing
Scheduling
Equipment and
Facility care.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic knowledge of computers including databases.
Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Must possess strong public relations and interpersonal skills to interact effectively and professionally with University community, outside community, and the press
Must possess a commitment to student learning and success, as well as a dedication to growth, development, innovation, and improvement.
Must possess commitment and capabilities to abide by NCAA and Conference rules.

Position requires travel.

Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
Position requires working evening and/or weekend hours.
