Reporting to the Athletic Director, the Head Coach recruits and coaches student-athletes, manages all administrative functions, and serves as the public face of Winthrop University’s
NCAA
Division I Women’s Lacrosse program.
Bachelor’s degree.
At least two years of coaching experience at the collegiate level.
Master’s degree.
Expert knowledge of the sport of lacrosse and a good understanding of intercollegiate athletics.
Working knowledge of
NCAA
, Big South and university rules and policies and their application.
Effective organizational and oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to hire, train supervise and evaluate employees.
Exceptional leadership, coaching and mentoring skills and proven ability to assess player and opponent skills and recruit and retain student-athletes.
Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees, students and their families, and the general public.
Sufficient technical skill to master required software.
Coaching and Player Development
Develops and implements practice and game strategy.
Organizes, prepares and conducts individual and team practices, training and competitions.
Recruits student-athletes in accordance with
NCAA
rules and regulations.
Administration
Manages and supervises daily operations and all administrative facets of the program, including budget, scheduling, equipment management, travel and reporting requirements.
Hires, trains, supervises, mentors and evaluates assistant and volunteer coaches.
Compliance and Academics
Monitors the academic progress and personal development of all student-athletes.
Coordinates services/activities with the Student Success Team.
Ensures compliance with university, Big South and
NCAA
rules and regulations.
External Relations
Represents Winthrop Athletics at various institutional programs and externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, students, parents and the general public.
Participates in fundraising and public relations activities to promote the program and Winthrop Athletics.
Position requires extensive travel, including overnight and weekends.
