Under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach will be responsible for the identification, recruitment and instruction of California Lutheran University student athletes in the women’s lacrosse program The position will include athletic administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics or their designee. The Head Coach is responsible for the management and administration of the sports program in adherence to the policies, rules and regulations of the University, National Collegiate Athletic Association (
NCAA
) and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (
SCIAC
)
Develops and maintains an effective program to identify prospects for the Women’s Lacrosse program. E
Conducts recruitment activities that adhere to the
NCAA
and
SCIAC
policies, procedures and rules. E
Provides effective supervision of Women’s Lacrosse program student athletes in the generic areas of practice, competition, and life management. E
Represents
CLU
at all official Women’s Lacrosse administrative activities related to the
SCIAC
conference and the
NCAA
. E
Oversees and manages all aspects of the staff and operations of the Women’s Lacrosse
Effectively manages the fiscal resources for the Women’s Lacrosse program. Provides reports and documentation as necessary to the Director of Athletics. E
Works cooperatively with the Director of Athletics and the Sports information Office to provide access between the media and the soccer program. E
Effectively prepares and communicates Women’s Lacrosse schedules and results to the Sports Information Office, the Director of Athletics and all athletics support staff. E
Supervises the Assistant Coach (es) and other part-time employees. E
Coordinate all team transportation and similar responsibilities for out of town Women’s Lacrosse. E
Develops and maintains a system to provide accurate records regarding individual and team performance for the
SCIAC
and the
NCAA
. E
Coordinates with the Director of Athletics the purchasing of supplies and equipment to support the Women’s Lacrosse program. E
Supports the Cal Lutheran Victory Club by soliciting membership and attending Victory Club events. E
Supports Cal Lutheran and its mission by participating and/or attending various on campus events as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Serves as a role model for student athletes in the Women’s Lacrosse program. E
Participates in game management responsibilities

Compliance issues concerning the administration of intercollegiate athletics.
Coaching theory and techniques; technical and tactical coaching of Lacrosse
Recruitment techniques and team management of an intercollegiate athletics program
Effective promotion of good sportsmanship, academic excellence, positive attitudes and character.
The care and prevention of athletic injuries, basic sports injury first aid and emergency procedures.
Principles of sports leadership and training.
Effective planning and organizational methods
Basic liability and risk management issues.
Design and implement recruitment plan for high school and college student-athletes; scout and recruit quality student-athletes.
Objectively evaluative skills in the areas of physical education and mental development related to Women’s Lacrosse.
Work cooperatively with faculty, staff, student and constituent groups outside the University to support the continued success and development of the Women’s Lacrosse program.
Effectively communicate with student athletes, faculty, staff and the community in oral and written forms.
Develop an organized program of training for soccer to ensure success in Women’s Lacrosse intercollegiate competition.
Provide leadership to student athletes to encourage both successful academic development and competitive performance.
Demonstrated experience and expertise in appropriate team building activities
Possess the physical skills necessary to demonstrate lacrosse techniques
Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes and work within a team-oriented philosophy.
Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with University,
NCAA
, and
SCIAC
rules and regulations.
Objectively evaluate physical skills in the areas of physical potential and mental capability for intercollegiate athletics.
Effectively teach fundamentals, skills, regulations, position details and strategies of Lacrosse during preparation and practice sessions.
Provide effective leadership to student- athletes to encourage both successful academic development and competitive performance.
Provide a safe environment for students, athletes, visitors and other constituents.
Analyze situations and adopt an effective course of action.
Work independently, prioritize, schedule and complete work.
Maintain confidentiality of records and information; Maintain files accurately, in paper and in software programs
Operate a personal computer and associated software, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Datatel Recruiter, etc.
Operate a vehicle to travel and conduct work; work flexible hours with frequent evenings and weekends
Travel locally or nationally
Any combination equivalent to: A Bachelor’s degree and three years of demonstrated success as a coach of a Club, High School, or Intercollegiate Lacrosse program.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Management, or related field
Master’s or Doctorate Degree
Expertise and experience in Athletics Administration
Commitment to the values, standards and expectations of
NCAA
Division
III
athletics and a liberal arts university
A proven ability to recruit quality student-athletes, primarily from the Southern California area
Valid California driver’s license.
Class B endorsed
CDL
License, insurance coverage (if driving own vehicle) or be insurable.
Possession of or ability to obtain
CPR
(cardiopulmonary resuscitation),
AED
(automated external defibrillator) and First Aid certifications within 90 days of employment.
Ability to work flexible hours with frequent evenings and weekends is required.
Travel is required.
Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and hear to exchange information; ability to walk, run, jump, stretch, stand, sit, bend, twist, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; climb stairs, ropes or ladders; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision; ability to demonstrate proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation; ability to operate a vehicle to travel to various sites to conduct work; ability to maintain level of physical fitness to meet departmental standards.
