Summary

The Head Coach is responsible for creating and maintaining a successful Men’s Wrestling program. The Head Coach is responsible the overall operation of a Men’s Wrestling team that competes in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (“EIWA”), including hiring and managing a staff of assistant coaches as well as evaluating, recruiting, training and coaching Cadet-Athletes to compete successfully against intercollegiate-level competition.  This position reports directly to the assigned Sport Administrator, keeping them apprised of all planning, organizing, staffing and development of the Army West Point Men’s Wrestling program.  This is a professional coaching position, and all duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of the United States Military Academy (“USMA”), Army West Point Athletics Association Inc. (“AWPAA”), the EIWA and the NCAA.  

Scope of Impact

The Head Coach is acting as an extension of the Director of Athletics and has direct access to the Cadet-Athletes. The Head Coach must possess highly professional mannerisms, unimpeachable moral and ethical character, and be a role model.  

Level of Decision Making

The responsibilities outlined in this job description are integral to the success of the AWPAA.  All decisions associated with designated responsibilities will be made by the Head Coach with Sport Administrator input.
