Overview

OVERVIEW: Operate a comprehensive and specialized program designed to prevent injury and improve the overall athletic performance of men’s basketball student-athletes by increasing athletic strength.

Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Design and implement safe and effective strength training, aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, and flexibility programs according to preseason, in-season, and off-season schedule exclusively for men’s basketball student-athletes, based on sound scientific principles of human performance, exercise physiology, and bi-mechanics. Provides motivation for men’s basketball student-athletes during supervised strength and training and condition workouts. Direct and orient new men’s basketball student athletes on all aspects of team and individual needs. Assist athletic trainers with rehabilitation protocols. (55%)
  2. Track and record the physical conditioning performance progress and capability of men’s basketball student-athletes through the utilization of technology and software programs. Work closely with men’s basketball coaching staff in translation and analysis of all results of testing information to help men’s basketball student-athletes, coaches, and athletic trainers in the prediction of injuries and of potential athletic performance. (15%)
  3. Assist the Director of High Performance in all aspects of a comprehensive, NCAA Division I intercollegiate strength and condition program. Provide support and assistance with scheduling, staff, programming, implementation, and overall operational logistics as directed by the head coach. (15%)
  4. Attend all home and away men’s basketball games. This includes non-conference and conference competitions. (10%)
  5. Seek and acquire additional professional knowledge through maintenance of CEU’s, attending professional seminars, and reading professional journals, books, and articles, while maintaining all necessary certifications and licenses. (5%)
