Position Summary:
The Assistant Learning Specialist will serve as a key member of the Learning Support Services
team within Athletics Academics. This role assists in designing and implementing individualized
academic support plans for student-athletes and works closely with Academic Coordinators,
tutors, academic coaches, and student-athletes to foster academic success, independence, and
personal growth.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Canva, Teamworks, and Adobe PDF
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to guide and support Division I student-athletes in a structured academic environment
Demonstrated experience teaching or tutoring diverse learners in higher education
Strong knowledge of learning strategies, study skills development, and intervention
techniques, with the capability to train student-athletes and staff
Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, work independently, and exercise sound judgment
Creativity and innovation in problem-solving and program development
High degree of personal integrity and commitment to student success
Passion for education, mentorship, and service

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
One year of experience in a post-secondary educational setting
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree (or enrollment in a graduate program) in Education, Special Education,
Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field
Two years of experience working within a post-secondary academic support environment
