Job Description
Essential Functions:
Supports the Department of Athletics with initiating and processing the hiring, onboarding, employment and compensation changes, and offboarding within the division in adherence to University and Department of Human Resources policies and procedures.
Serves as a centralized Talent Liaison for the Department of Athletics and assumes tasks related to initiating, changing, or ending employment for employees (full-time, part-time, student, contingent, or temporary) in Workday, including coordination and tracking of records, including budgetary information and impacts, employment dates, accurate and timely pay, job descriptions, stipends, and performance appraisals.
Tracks and initiates contractual bonuses, additional compensation payments, and required salary increases.
Reviews employee costing allocations for proper funding sources.
Prepares reports including open positions, compensation reconciliations, contractual obligations, and bonuses.
Maintains confidential files and records and accurate documentation of employment and compensation matters.
Point of contact for all student hiring, onboarding, including Form I-9 compliance, compensation changes, and offboarding.
Evaluates requests for volunteers, ensuring they meet required guidelines. Facilitates background screening, onboarding, and offboarding procedures.
Initiates and tracks background screenings for all Athletic camps and clinics.
Communicates and coordinates department-wide events, trainings, and announcements.
Organizes Athletics’ annual performance evaluation process for staff.
Participates in regularly scheduled Human Resources department and Employment Solutions team meetings.
Supports Central Human Resources initiatives as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Associate’s degree with at least two years experience in Human Resources or related field.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
Proficient in MS Office, the Internet, and other relevant software or applications.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of privileged information and perform a range of duties that require sensitivity, independent judgment, flexibility and discretion.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong attention to detail.
Highly organized, with the ability to keep tasks moving forward.
Ability to multitask and prioritize daily assignments and activities with minimal direction.
Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to analyze complex information and define and solve problems.
Ability to interpret and advise on governmental and University policies and procedures.
Ability to work effectively with various constituencies in a diverse community.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree.
Experience in a higher education environment.
Prior experience using Workday.
Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations regarding employment.
Understanding of human resources procedures, practices, policies and laws, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
