Essential Functions: Under the supervision of the Director of the University Academic Advisement Center (UAAC), the incumbent serves as the Lead Advisor for a team providing academic advisement to Exploring (Undeclared) students (including transitional students seeking new majors) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Student Athletes. In addition to advising students, the Lead Advisor supports the Director in coordinating targeted advising campaigns and progress report campaigns utilizing the EAB Navigate platform). The Lead Advisor collaborates with the UAAC Director and Athletics Administrators, including the Compliance Officer, to ensure University compliance with California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and NCAA regulations and policies. The Lead Advisor, working with college-based advising centers, assists the Director in tracking and monitoring students through the process of major change. Other duties include gathering and analyzing advising data and presenting results as requested. The incumbent also provides comprehensive advising services to a cohort of Student Athletes; GE and Major advising, course selection, and scheduling assistance to students in all majors, ensuring compliance with NCAA eligibility requirements; develops individualized educational plans for students Reviews transcripts to ensure transfer work is applied to degree completion; monitors Student Athletes academic progress, identifying and assisting students with academic difficulty and making appropriate referrals to additional student support services; serves as the primary academic resource person for Cal State LA Athletics staff and Student Athletes, and works with faculty and college and department advisors to resolves academic issues involving Student Athletes; processes applicable forms; uses GET to process student advising requirements; maintains student records Documents student interactions; provides advising during student orientations; leads student success workshops; and discusses career options.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Must have equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional experience in student advising services. A master's degree may be substituted for one year of experience. The incumbent must possess excellent organizational skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; have an understanding of standard office procedures; and must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The incumbent must have the ability to plan, organize and prioritize work; develop and maintain database systems; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; exercise tact, courtesy, alertness and good judgment when responding to others; multi-task, complete assignments in a timely fashion, and work under pressure; demonstrate initiative and the ability to solve problems independently; communicate by phone, by email, and in group settings; be computer literate and be proficient in standard word processing and database software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; and follow all University policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of general principles, practices, and trends in academic advising. Experience with EAB Navigate advising platform, including both appointment and progress report campaigns. Knowledge of student-athlete academic issues and complexities and a working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
