Wingate University (NCAA D2, South Atlantic Conference) is recruiting for a full-time Head Men's/Women's Tennis Coach. The opportunity will provide individual and group instruction to players., assess player skills, and provide feedback on areas for improvement. The Head Coach will assist scheduling practices, organizing meets, and matches. Maintain accurate records of player progress and attendance.

Essential Functions:

  • Implement and maintain a standard of performance consistent with the University's goals of academic and athletic excellence. Promote academic achievement among athletes.

  • Provide instruction, mentoring, coaching, evaluation of, and guidance to student-athletes to allow them to develop their athletic skills and abilities to maximum potential. Determine appropriate coaching methods and strategies in consultation with the Director of Athletics. Provide effective leadership, mentoring and supervision to staff.

  • Provide assistance in scheduling and organizing games and meets. Develop and communicate practice schedules.

  • Work with the Director of Sports Performance to design and implement a strength and conditioning development system.

  • Manage the program within budgetary guidelines. Submit all budget-related reports and requests as required. Advise the Director of Athletics regarding resource needs, including funding needs and staffing needs. Fundraise to levels determined by the University.

  • Develop and implement an effective recruiting strategy. Meet and maintain minimum roster sizes established by the University.
