Marketing & Fan Engagement GA
To provide you with practical, hands-on experience in marketing while contributing to the goals and objectives of Winthrop University Athletics. This role is aimed at students enrolled in graduate programs who are seeking to develop their skills and knowledge in creating marketing plans, social media, group ticket sales, and fan engagement.
To promote attendance at athletics events, engage fans, build the Winthrop brand, and support department communications goals and initiatives
Review plans and schedules with the Director of Marketing to get their input and approval

Marketing & Fan Engagement GA
To provide you with practical, hands-on experience in marketing while contributing to the goals and objectives of Winthrop University Athletics. This role is aimed at students enrolled in graduate programs who are seeking to develop their skills and knowledge in creating marketing plans, social media, group ticket sales, and fan engagement.
To promote attendance at athletics events, engage fans, build the Winthrop brand, and support department communications goals and initiatives
Review plans and schedules with the Director of Marketing to get their input and approval
Work collaboratively with the Director of Marketing to execute those promotion
Serve as a primary marketing contact for assigned sports and assist with other sports as needed.
Create designs for promotional giveaways for assigned sports
Review all designs with the Director of Marketing and external team
SCRIPT
BUILDING
Build scripts for every game day for assigned sports
Work with the External Team to ensure all sponsor fulfillments are met
GAME
DAY
OPERATIONS
Manage marketing game day operations for assigned sports Execute promotions/game themes if applicable
Execute on-court/on-field promotions with willing fans
Oversee undergraduate game day interns for that given game
Print and distribute scripts before each game
Review scripts with interns and game staff before the start of games
Ensure necessary video board content for each game is loaded, labeled, and user-friendly
Work with the Director of Marketing to coordinate anthem and halftime groups (mainly for
MBB
and
WBB
)
Assist with group ticket sales and communication

Assist in managing social media accounts for teams including posting promotional aspects
Track social media engagements to analyze the effectiveness of promotions
Utilize Winthrop mobile app to reflect upcoming games, events, promotions
COMMUNITY
OUTREACH
Assist in campus and community outreach
Assist in tabling in the Student Center/On-Campus
• A bachelor’s degree in marketing, sports management, communications, or journalism is preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
• Experience within a sports organization is preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• High-energy work ethic
• Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends
