The head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach will evaluate, recruit, coach and mentor qualified student-athletes that will compete at a high level in the classroom and on the court. The successful candidate will oversee the organization of all team practices, games and budgets. This individual will put together a comprehensive recruitment plan for the Men’s and Women’s Tennis staff and will ensure a culture of compliance within all NCAA Division III, ODAC and Ferrum College rules and regulations, and ensure all coaches and student-athletes comply with the same. Finally, the successful candidate will serve in administrative capacity as needed and directed by the Director of Athletics.
Essential Functions:
Evaluate, recruit, coach and mentor qualified student-athletes and prepare the team for a full intercollegiate varsity Men’s and Women’s Tennis experience.
Oversee all aspects of Men’s and Women’s Tennis program operations, including, but not limited to, the development and management of all team practices, contests, recruitment, academic monitoring, budgets and the supervision of all full-time, part-time, volunteer and student assistant coaching staff.
Develop and execute a comprehensive recruitment plan for the entire Men’s and Women’s Tennis staff, ensuring a robust and competitive roster from the local, regional and national landscape.
Ensure a culture of compliance around all NCAA Division III, ODAC and Ferrum College rules and regulations and ensure all coaching staff members and student-athletes do the same.
Travel locally, regionally and nationally for all regular-season and postseason events, conference and/or national meetings and fundraising, alumni and community events.
Develop yearly, non-conference, game schedules to ensure high-level competition in preparation for ODAC and post-season play.
Oversee student-athlete academic progress, be available for consultation/support for student-athletes and direct student-athletes to the appropriate academic professionals to ensure academic success.
Select and purchase all equipment necessary to ensure a competitive tennis program.
Work with the Director of Athletics on the upkeep of Burrows-Skeens Tennis Courts and all other relevant facilities utilized by the Men’s and Women’s Tennis team.
Work closely with the Sports Information Director to develop a media plan and be available for interviews and speaking engagements to internal and external constituents.
Serve in administrative capacity as needed and directed by the Director of Athletics.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Oversight of full-time assistant Men’s and Women’s Tennis coach and all part-time, volunteer and student assistant coaches.
Education/Experience:
A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years collegiate coaching experience is required. A master’s degree and collegiate playing experience is preferred.
Licenses:
Current and valid driver’s license required.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision:
Provide day-to-day oversight of admissions counselors, offering guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
Serve as acting director in the absence of the Senior Director, representing the office in meetings and office leadership.
Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating recruitment strategies and initiatives in collaboration with the Senior Director.
Help manage internal operations, including territory assignments, recruitment travel planning, event coordination, and admissions communications.

The candidate must be able to work independently and have the ability to work on evenings and weekends throughout the year to accomplish the tasks necessary for success in this field.
