Position Summary

The role of an Offensive Coordinator is crucial in shaping a football team's offensive strategy and performance. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Offensive Strategy Development:

 The

Offensive Coordinator is responsible for designing the overall offensive game plan, determining the plays, formations, and strategies that will be used to attack opposing defenses.

Play Calling

: During games, the coordinator makes real-time decisions and calls offensive plays, adjusting strategies based on the flow of the game and the opponent's defensive schemes.

Collaboration

: They work closely with the head coach, position coaches, and other members of the coaching staff to ensure a cohesive offensive strategy that aligns with the team's overall goals.

Player Development

: The Offensive Coordinator focuses on developing the skills of offensive players, particularly the quarterbacks and skill position players, providing coaching and feedback to improve their performance.

Film Analysis:

 They analyze game films to assess offensive performance, identify areas for improvement, and study opposing defenses to plan effective strategies.

Communication:

 The coordinator ensures clear communication with the offensive unit, helping players understand their roles in the game plan and adjusting as needed during games.

Game Management

: The Offensive Coordinator is involved in managing the offense during games, including clock management and making decisions on when to take risks or play conservatively.

Innovation and Adaptation

: They stay updated on trends in offensive football, incorporating new strategies and techniques to keep the offense dynamic and difficult to defend against.

Overall:

 The Offensive Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the success of the team's offense, ensuring that players are well-prepared, and that the offensive strategy is effectively executed.

Education/ Experience

What you will need to be successful!

Bachelor’s degree in sports management, physical education, or a related field (preferred).

At least 1 year of experience 

Previous experience, particularly with being an offensive coordinator at high school, college, or professional level.
