Job Description

The University of Indianapolis is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and highly motivated Outside Linebackers Coach to join our football program and contribute to the development and success of our student-athletes on and off the field. This is a 9-month position that includes a stipend salary, meals, and opportunities for additional compensation through summer camps.

As the Outside Linebackers Coach, you will work closely with the Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator to elevate the defensive unit, focusing on player development, game preparation, and recruiting top-tier talent. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to fostering a championship culture within the program.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the coaching, training, and mentorship of the outside linebacker position group, emphasizing fundamentals, advanced techniques, and football IQ.
  • Develop and implement position-specific drills to improve player agility, tackling, pass-rushing, and coverage skills.
  • Evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes who align with the program’s competitive and academic standards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with high school coaches, prospects, and their families to establish a strong recruiting pipeline.
  • Collaborate with the Defensive Coordinator to develop and install weekly defensive game plans, focusing on opponent tendencies and matchups.
  • Organize, instruct, and manage the scout team, ensuring thorough defensive preparation for upcoming games.
  • Analyze game and practice film, identifying areas for improvement and providing detailed feedback to players.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the football program, including team travel coordination, equipment management, and practice scheduling.
  • Contribute to summer camps and clinics, fostering player development and strengthening community engagement.
  • Promote a culture of academic excellence, athletic achievement, and personal integrity within the football program.
  • Ensure full compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations to maintain program eligibility and integrity.
