 Position Part-Time Assistant Track Coach Division: Athletics Department: Athletics Reports to: Head Track and Field Coach Position Summary   The Assistant Track and Field Coach is responsible for the development, training, and performance of the track and field athletes, which typically include sprinters and jumpers. This role involves teaching fundamental skills, techniques, and strategies essential for track and field athletes to excel. The coach will collaborate closely with the Head Coach and other coaching staff to implement an effective track program. Essential Duties & Responsibilities   The results you will deliver each day that matter most! Providing coaching expertise, and administrative oversight to the team of college athletes while collaborating closely with team coaches, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes. Education/ Experience   What you will need to be successful! Player Development:    Train and mentor runners and jumpers in fundamental skills such as running and jumping mechanics, and footwork.    Create individualized training programs that address the specific needs and strengths of each athlete.   Game Preparation:     Develop and implement practice plans that focus on improving athletes’ performance.   Track and analyze individual and team performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.     Communicate effectively with other coaching staff to ensure cohesive team strategies.    Mentorship and Leadership:    Foster a positive and competitive environment that encourages growth and development among athletes      Serve as a role model and mentor to athletes, promoting teamwork, discipline, and a strong work ethic.     Recruitment and Scouting:   - Assist in scouting and evaluating potential recruits, providing insights on player potential and fit within the program.    Administrative Duties:    - Maintain accurate records of player progress and development.      - Participate in staff meetings and contribute to team discussions regarding strategy and player development.   Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in sports management, physical education, or a related field (preferred).   - Previous coaching experience, particularly with track athletes at the high school, college, or professional level.   - Strong understanding of track and field mechanics.   - Experience in analyzing meet films and using video analysis software.   Skills: - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.   - Strong leadership abilities and the capability to motivate and inspire players.   - Analytical mindset with a focus on performance metrics and improvement.   - Ability to work collaboratively with other coaching staff and players.   Physical Requirements: - Ability to participate in practice and training sessions, demonstrating techniques as needed.   - Capability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends during the season.   -Other duties as assigned.
