The Public Address (PA) Announcer serves as the official voice of Delaware Athletics during home events, delivering player introductions, game action updates, sponsor reads, and promotional messaging. This role helps create an exciting and engaging gameday atmosphere while ensuring all announcements are communicated clearly, accurately, and professionally.

Role Description:

The Public Address (PA) Announcer serves as the official voice of Delaware Athletics during home events, delivering player introductions, game action updates, sponsor reads, and promotional messaging. This role helps create an exciting and engaging gameday atmosphere while ensuring all announcements are communicated clearly, accurately, and professionally.

Primary Responsibilities:

Serve as the official Public Address (PA) Announcer for assigned University of Delaware Athletics home events.

• Deliver player introductions, starting lineups, substitutions, scoring updates, and other in-game announcements accurately and professionally.
• Read promotional messaging, sponsor acknowledgements, and public service announcements as provided by the Athletics Marketing & Engagement staff
• Work closely with the game presentation team, scoreboard operator, statistician, officials, and event management staff to ensure timely and accurate announcements.
• Maintain a professional, energetic, and engaging vocal presence that enhances the overall fan experience.
• Attend pre-event meetings and arrive sufficiently in advance of each event to review scripts, pronunciations, and event timelines.
• Accurately pronounce the names of student-athletes, coaches, officials, and sponsors by preparing in advance of each event.
• Adapt to game-day changes and communicate important information clearly in a fast-paced live event environment.
• Represent the University of Delaware Athletics Department with professionalism and excellent customer service at all times.
• Perform additional game presentation duties as assigned by the Athletics Marketing & Engagement staff.

Qualifications:

• Strong public speaking and verbal communication skills.
• Clear, confident, and engaging speaking voice.
• Ability to remain composed in a fast-paced, live event environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent professionalism and reliability.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and select holidays based on the athletics schedule.
• Prior announcing, broadcasting, or live event experience preferred, but not required.
• Passion for collegiate athletics and creating an outstanding fan experience.
