Glenville State University is seeking to hire a General Manager (GM) for Pioneer Media, an on-campus entity that includes GSU video recording and broadcasting duties. The GM will primarily work to assure live athletic game day production for all home athletic events both externally (via BlueFrame Production Truck software to the Mountain East Conference Digital Network) and internally (via a NewTek Tricaster live streaming to Nevco Jumbotrons) with created ads spots inserted during media time outs and LiveText scoring.

In addition to recording and live streaming sporting events, the GM is also responsible for the recording and production of special events (commencement, convocation, etc.), informational lectures, and more that are shared via Facebook and YouTube. Archived videos produced by Pioneer Media are shared via GSU’s local access channel (on a Shentel cable channel) and on campus.

Pioneer Media also functions as a learning and teaching environment where students work with the GM to produce quality, creative, and professional content.

Examples of Duties

The GM will work to sustain Pioneer Media and increase its impact on campus and beyond while supervising and mentoring student staff and interns. The GM will report directly to the GSU Marketing Director and will work closely and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students on program development. Duties include:

• Managing the overall operations of Pioneer Media, setting up cameras, running cables, carrying equipment up and down bleachers
• Maintaining collaborative, collegial relationships with individuals throughout the College and community at large
• Manage lighting, sound, and videoboard technology at the Waco Center
• Manage, train and maintain standards for freelance on-air talent
• Manage, schedule, and curate content for video and audio broadcasts across multiple streaming platforms
• Storyboard and plan content to tell stories of Glenville students, student-athletes, coaches, faculty and staff (interviews, messaging, narrative-building)
• Assuming full responsibility for any content broadcast across any Pioneer Media platform; reviewing all content that is produced
• Monitoring the Pioneer Media operations and student worker budgets
• Having a thorough understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite, including but not limited to Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, and InDesign
• Mentor/trainer for student broadcasters, cultivating pool of talent to contribute to livestreams and content creation
• Create an educational pathway for Glenville State University students seeking to pursue a career in sports broadcasting, and work with appropriate academic units to develop relevant curriculum.
• Working closely with Campus IT staff to ensure technology/infrastructure needs are met
• Maintain a working knowledge of trends and changes in the broadcast media industry to maintain the highest standard of quality.
• Working closely with Athletic staff to ensure game day broadcasting/streaming needs are met
• Organize weekly meetings with student employees to create schedules and delegate tasks
• Upholding ethical and legal standards
• Other duties as assigned

Typical Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a related field, experience working in television and radio, and general knowledge of production and programming. Preferred qualifications include experience in supervision/training, financial management/budgeting, and technical production.
