The Powerade Performance Nutrition Fellow will be immersed in collegiate performance nutrition, support the advancement of our program, and provide high level nutrition support for student-athletes in line with the mission and vision of the LSU Performance Nutrition department. The fellow will provide nutrition care, education and resources for Football: individual goal setting, comprehensive body composition assessments, meal compliance, menu planning and development, competition fueling, performance lab analysis, eating disorder/disordered eating screening, dietary supplement review, performance nutrition research, and policy development. The fellowship will be for 1 year, subject to continuation for an additional year (2 year appointment maximum).
50% Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), individual and team sport performance nutrition counseling, and life skills educational programming for teams as assigned by Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Nutrition; Active member of the Eating Disorder/Disordered Eating Task Force; Collaboration on performance nutrition menu planning and development with Executive Chef and Director of the Performance Nutrition Center.
25% Data management of performance nutrition research, NoteMeal software and sports science projects; Management of inventory and maintenance of 3 main fueling stations; Represent LSU on behalf of the Performance Nutrition department during recruiting events, tours, and presentations.
20% Assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Nutrition with Performance Nutrition Department development tasks as assigned; Supervision of 20-30 student volunteer interns and Dietetic Interns (DI); Management of home and away game day logistics as assigned by Assistant AD for Sports Nutrition; Attend team’s practices, lifts, and games as assigned.
5% Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the creation of a respectful culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Nutrition or related field; Registered Dietitian credential; Ability to obtain licensure in the state of Louisiana upon hire.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
Ability to work extended days, weekends and holidays. Travel may be required; Pre-employment drug screen required.
