A highly experienced designer, the Senior Art Director, Football, leads the development and execution of Notre Dame Football’s visual brand, as a member of both the Notre Dame Football Staff and Fighting Irish Media. Our mission is to educate, elevate and empower student-athletes, inspiring fans and future generations to forever engage in the Notre Dame experience. This role provides the Notre Dame Football program with expert knowledge and experience in graphic design, both print and digital. This individual should be highly creative, with a pulse on both new visual trends and pop culture, in order to both push the Notre Dame brand forward in innovative ways, and engage young athletes. Responsibilities of this role include football recruiting design, football social media design, football and athletic department design campaigns, set design and ideation, internal football staff projects, and collaboration with the larger Fighting Irish Media team.
Additional Expectations include:
Elevate the brand perception of Notre Dame Football to both fans and potential student-athletes, through authentic and innovative designs.
Manage the completion of all design needs for the football program, with particular emphasis on recruiting and social media.
Lead the development of the visual identity for Notre Dame Football, in close collaboration with the design team.
Mentor and develop internal designers and student-workers.
Engage in regular ideation sessions, and lead others in effective brainstorming techniques.
Support Fighting Irish Media in auxiliary roles, helping to capitalize on other team members’ ideas, and showing willingness to assist other sports as needed.
Foster and promote a safe, collaborative, creative culture within Fighting Irish Media, the football program, and the entire Athletics department
Skills:
Expert knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Strong knowledge of InDesign, Lightroom, After Effects, and Premier. Experience with 3D design and photography is a plus.
Experience with both print and digital design.
Design flexibility to work on both large-scale multifaceted projects, and small quick-turn design.
Highly organized; comfortable managing personal project work-flow, as well as managing the distribution of projects to other designers (both internal designers, student-workers, and freelancers).
Bachelor’s Degree (4 years)
3 to 4 years experience
Adobe Creative Suite experience (Photoshop, Illustrator, expert; InDesign, After Effects knowledge)
Understanding of and compliance with
NCAA
,
ACC
, and ND rules and regulations is imperative.
