Apply NowAdditionally, the Senior Associate Athletic Director serves as a member of the Athletics Department senior leadership team and advises the university Chancellor on pertinent NCAA mandates and issues.
Finally, the Senior Associate Athletic Director will have sports administration oversight of a few intercollegiate athletic sports programs.
In all facets of the position requirements, the Associate Athletic Director contributes to the exceptional working environment and service-delivery function of the department with student-athlete academic success and well-being as a primary goal.
As a university that participates in the NCAA, we must have personnel that are experts in NCAA compliance to lead and direct the university and Athletic department.
Compliance:
Develops, implements, monitors, and assesses a strategic plan for all aspects of the department's NCAA compliance processes and procedures.
Develops, conducts, and assesses initiatives in order to maintain a comprehensive compliance program while insuring unit adherence to all NCAA, affiliated conference and institutional regulations.
Prepares proposals, reports, and assessment data regarding unit deliverables and outcomes and implements improvements base on customer/constituent feedback.
Prepares, conducts, and assesses components of regular compliance educational sessions/communications for the department of athletics as well as other institutional entities responsible for institutional control.
Develops, implements, and oversees selected compliance protocols for all 17 NCAA Division I programs.
Student Services:
Provide leadership in building a program that provides opportunities for student-athletes to fully develop their academic and athletic potential.
Recommends initiative and changes to improve student-athlete services for the unit, department, and university.
Works with other student support units within the department as well as the entire university to coordinate workflow and activities to ensure a seamless operation.
Identifies procedural weaknesses and develops recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices; initiates and implements plans to problem solve.
Name, Image, Likeness:
Develop and implement a Name, Image, Likeness program for the benefit of SIU student-athletes, the University, and the Community.
Coordinate with external engagement to support brand building and personal business development initiatives.
Work with campus and community partners, as appropriate, to develop, maximize and enhance NIL education opportunities for student-athletes.
Study and decipher the latest NIL trends and communicate to internal and external parties regarding legislative advancements, NCAA compliance regulations and vendor landscape evolution.
Develop and maintain up-to-date education materials for student-athletes, recruits, coaches, and staff programming.
Manage NIL questions and requests from internal (e.g. student-athletes, coaches, staff, etc.) and external sources (e.g., boosters, third party individuals, local businesses, etc.).
Responsible for driving and developing content for student-athletes based on strategic initiatives as well as current events that dictate focus and attention.
Drive NIL education through key topics including NCAA compliance, personal branding, sourcing, and evaluating opportunities, etc.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree required by date of hire. Minimum of three (3) years of administrative experience in Intercollegiate athletics administration, NCAA compliance or five (5) years in higher education administration and student services. Significant leadership and entrepreneurial experience. Effective oral and written communication skills to relate well with the University community and the general public. Must possess strong analytical skills combined with clear, persuasive, and appropriately assertive communication skills to achieve credibility with internal and external staff, and to ensure desired compliance outcomes. Strong networking and interpersonal skills to promote the University through developing recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications: Law Degree preferred.
