Duties and Responsibilities of Senior Associate Athletic Director

• Maintains NCAA compliance procedures and processes for institution including rules education, rules interpretations, and coordinating rules compliance efforts.
• Routinely interacts with departmental staff members, coaches, strength and conditioning and representatives of athletic interest to ensure compliance through education of NCAA, GLIAC and institutional rules and the review of relevant issues.
• Identifies potential rules violations and reports them to the Director of Athletics and FAR.
• Conducts investigations of NCAA rules violations.
• Declares student-athletes ineligible who violate NCAA rules.
• Reviews summer regulations regarding athletics participation, sports camps and clinics, Name, Image and Likeness and employment for coaches and student-athletes. 
• Declares and monitors playing and practice sessions with Head Coaches.
• Ensures a schedule has been established and monitors athletically related activity reports.
• Monitors recruiting calendars and activity including official and unofficial visits for the department and helps guide coaches in their recruiting efforts.
• Coordinates the assigning and checks for completion of the Coaches Modules in Division II University prior to permitting any coach (full-time, part-time, volunteer) from recruiting or participating in CARA.
• Reviews, audits, and files weekly practice and competition logs. Maintains participation records and determines seasons of competition utilized by the student-athletes. 
• Monitors permissible recruiting materials in accordance with NCAA Bylaws.
• Utilizing the transfer portal, secures the release for potential transfer students and facilitates the release of student-athletes seeking to transfer from PNW in consultation with the head coach and Director of Athletics.
• Works with the Registrar, Director of Athletics (AD) and Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) to certify student-athlete eligibility.
• Serves as Department liaison with the NCAA Eligibility Center; develops and submits Institutional Request Lists (IRLs) for each sport.
• Receives final Eligibility Center decisions and notifies the appropriate head coach when a final decision is rendered.
• Assists the Director of Athletics in the completion of conference and NCAA reports.

Education of Senior Associate Athletic Director

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Additional education in related field may be substituted for experience. 

Experience of Senior Associate Athletic Director

• Five years athletic compliance or related experience required. 
• 4 years of experience at an NCAA institution or conference office. 

Core Competencies of Senior Associate Athletic Director

• Knowledge of NCAA, conference and institutional student policies and procedures and those related to assigned departments.
• Knowledge of applicable university practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of applicable state and federal rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices. 
• Ability to speak in public, lead small group meetings, and make presentations.
• Strong interpersonal, written communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and respond to multiple competing demands.
• Proficiency with a computer and relevant software applications.
• Ability to process, review and evaluate student documents.
• Ability to supervise staff.
• Ability to provide training for department and institution staff members and student-athletes. 
• As a part of the job responsibilities associated with this position, knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA and conference should be maintained, reviewed and practiced to ensure compliance relative to those applicable duties.
