ROLE of the POSITION

This includes acting as the department’s Deputy Title IX Coordinator with UNLV’s Office of Equal Employment and Title IX. Oversight for the department’s internal gender equity plan/Title IX treatment areas is necessary to ensure compliance with regulations and continued growth for the Department.
Additionally, this position is responsible for the oversight of the roster management plan and supports the facilities master plan to ensure measurable improvements associated with the advancement of Olympic sports programs.
Finally, through department-wide initiatives and leadership development, this position will support the internal department of Human Resources as a leader in people development, to include supporting “diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging” department initiatives in alignment with the department and University strategic plan.
Daily functions include;
Providing holistic support services that enhance the student-athlete development with an emphasis on career readiness. Through a multi-faceted approach, this position is responsible for engaging student-athletes in four areas of growth: personal growth, professional development, community outreach and leadership/character development. With the primary goal of establishing post-graduate placement, this position will provide a coordinated and cohesive approach to career coaching and a unified and strategic approach alongside advising units that integrates career paths with academic major and program selection. An educational career tracking system is offered and maintained that provides the student-athlete with: resume building, networking and interviewing skills, job search techniques, business etiquette, and techniques on marketing the student-athlete brand. Networking opportunities with both national and local companies are provided through career panels, etiquette dinners and educational workshops. The goal of 80% placement is expected, with sustained future placement rates.
As the SWA/Deputy Title IX Coordinator, this position is expected to advise, counsel and recommend courses of action related to sensitive situation and high-risk areas within the department, Must be able to adequately assess a situation and determine if the situation can be addressed at the Head Coach level or if it should be escalated to the Athletic Director/campus support units as appropriate. In addition, acts as a resource on a regular basis for student-athletes and coaches to address professional, academic, personal concerns or issues often related to safety and well-being.
Sport Administration for two sports: volleyball and softball. Duties include primary oversight to ensure that the needs of the coaches, student- athletes and program are met and leads monthly meeting, as directed, to discuss best practices and enhance communications.
Act as the Athletic Director’s liaison to Athletics HR for inquires and/or directives pertaining to all athletic HR needs.
Utilizes internal HR for guidance on proper procedures and policies to address situations, questions, concerns when necessary.
Evening and weekend work is often required as well as occasional travel with teams.
This position should have a basic knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to assigned job duties and the scope of employment. In addition, this position will be responsible for obtaining proper guidance or approval from Athletics Compliance, prior to participating in select activities, as defined by NCAA bylaws or institutional policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and a minimum of five years of comparable professional experience. In addition, experience in Student-Athlete Support Services or a comparable field within a Division I Institution is required. Educational Equivalency at a 1:1 ratio is acceptable. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
