Senior Associate Director of Athletics, for Compliance, Policy, and Governance

The Senior Associate Director of Athletics, for Compliance, Policy, and Governance serves as a member of the Athletics Senior Team and has engagement and input on the strategic direction of the Athletics program both within the University and in the broader NCAA landscape.  

The Senior Associate AD is the designated NCAA Compliance Officer, and is responsible for ensuring compliance with all University affiliated conference, and NCAA rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics and oversees all monitoring efforts for recruitment activities including, but not limited to, official/unofficial visits, telephone logs, and contacts/evaluations; monitors practice and playing seasons; administers and prepares NLIs/financial aid agreements; assists with NCAA initial and continuing eligibility process; assists with all aspects of financial aid; prepares and processes waivers, appeals and violation reports; and other duties as assigned.  

This position is also responsible for the recruitment, training, and supervision of the Compliance Coordinator and compliance interns. The Senior Associate AD serves as a resource for student-athletes, coaches and staff as well as the campus community by providing rules interpretations and education and will continue to grow Athletics partnerships and relationships with various campus units including Registrar, Admissions, Financial Aid, and more, and represent Athletics on various senior level campus and search committees.  

The Senior Associate AD assists the Director of Athletics in developing New Hampshire strategy and response to continued NCAA evolution and legal action in areas like Name, Image, Likeness, Transfer Portal, education-related expenses, and professionalization of student-athletes. The position monitors, educates, and responds as needed to NCAA and Conference governance changes; and enhances, communicates, and implements NIL policy, education, and opportunities to student-athletes while coordinating with on- and off-campus partners in this area.

The Senior Associate AD oversees and manages a complete review of Athletics policy and procedures with ongoing updates and maintenance. The Senior Associate AD supervises selected sports and their respective coaching staffs, budgets, and various other related facets, student-athletes, special events, and fundraising activities as appropriate.

Job Duties:

• Maintain competency with respect to knowledge of NCAA rules, ensure compliance of the NCAA rules, and report to the Director of Athletics knowledge of any violation of NCAA, conference and/or institutional rules.

• Responsible for ensuring compliance with all University affiliated conference, and NCAA rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics.

• Oversee all monitoring efforts for recruitment activities including, but not limited to, official/unofficial visits, telephone logs, and contacts/evaluations; monitor practice and playing seasons; administer and prepare NLIs/financial aid agreements; assist with NCAA initial and continuing eligibility process; assist with all aspects of financial aid; and prepare and process waivers, appeals and violation reports.,

• Responsible for the recruitment, training, and oversight of the Compliance Coordinator and compliance interns.

• Continue to grow Athletics partnerships and relationships with various campus units including Registrar, Admissions, Financial Aid, and more, and represent Athletics on various senior level campus and search committees.,

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in related field.

• Five years of full-time experience, including supervisory experience, working with NCAA Compliance.

• Eight or more years experience with NCAA Compliance at an NCAA Division I institution.

• Strong familiarity with NCAA Division I rules and regulations.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Detailed record keeping skills.

• Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

• Experience with NCAA Compliance Assistant (CAi) and LSDBi

• The ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal form.

• Experience with NCAA Division I Rules and Regulations

• Experience with ARMS monitoring software.
