Position Summary

The Senior Director of Football Equipment Operations is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the equipment and apparel needs for the UCLA Football program. This position will be under the general supervision of the Head Football Coach and report directly to the Assistant Athletic Director, Equipment Operations working specifically with the Bruin football program. Total number of individuals that you are responsible for equipping and outfitting; includes approximately 120 student-athletes, 11 coaches and over 30 support staff. A successful candidate will be responsible for the daily management of the football equipment room, including procurement, logistics, monitoring inventory levels, and distributing all equipment and apparel for the UCLA football program. The Senior Director will play an integral role as a member of the equipment department when it comes to building and maintaining relationships with vendors and the school’s shoe and apparel partner. Other duties include tracking of all items, locker room maintenance, facility upkeep, ensuring the safety of team issued gear and practice and training items, as well as oversight of staff issued apparel. Position will serve as the primary contact for the setup of on and off campus team practices as well as the timely and efficient transportation of athletic equipment, uniforms and necessary apparel to all athletic contests – both at home at the Rose Bowl, on the road, and potentially off-site training camp locations. Duties will also include hiring and training student managers, assisting with recruiting and camp operational needs, and daily laundry services to meet team needs.

Qualifications

  • Two-five years of experience working in the Athletic Equipment field with specific Power 5 Football program or NFL team related experience preferred. (Preferred)
    • Skill in organizing material, people and information in a systematic way to optimize efficiency, including ability to work independently and with follow through on assignments with minimal direction. (Required)
    • Working knowledge of methods, tools, equipment and material of the trade sufficient to organize work, evaluate progress and ensure work assignments meet stated standards, including demonstrated execution of prioritization of assignments in a timely fashion in fast paced environment. (Required)
    • Understanding and demonstrated compliance with Departmental, University, Pac-12 and NCAA rules and regulations (Required)
    • Strong knowledge of equipment and apparel maintenance and repair techniques in accordance to manufacturer specifications and the NCAA. (Required)
    • Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship and effective communication with other staff members, students, and administrators and University personnel and public. (Required)
