Job Summary

The Sport Science Coordinator delivers sport science services and process management as an integral part of the Integrated Support Team (IST), to include monitoring and testing programs. • Manages and administers safe, legal, and ethical practices for the dissemination of athlete, team, and related institutional performance data.
• Assists head(s) of performance with deliverable performance services and special projects.

General Responsibilities

• Performs exams using proper equipment as ordered by providers.
• Checks to be sure all reports are filed promptly and sent to ordering providers for review.
• Makes sure charges are entered correctly by checking order list or by entering data into electronic medical record (EMR) for outside providers, so patients will be billed properly.
• Sends test results to qualified provider for analysis.
• Monitors equipment and performs regular maintenance and inspections as needed.

Qualifications

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.

EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

• Associate's degree from an accredited school with a technician specialty and two years of relevant experience; OR
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited school with a technician specialty.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in exercise science, sports science, or a related field.
• 2 years relevant work experience with sport or tactical athlete populations (including intern/apprenticeships).
• Experience/proficiency in basic data analysis.
• Experience with statistical software programs and functions (e.g., Excel, Power BI, R, SQL, etc.)
• Experience with sports science technologies (e.g., GPS/LPS/IMU monitoring, heart rate, force plates, etc.).

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Required

• Technician related certification.

Preferred

• Suitable/relevant certification (e.g., NSCA-CSCS) and/or professional license required to hold positions of influence on exercise prescription, including workload management and the application of performance data.
• NSCA-CPSS a bonus.

Working Conditions / Demands

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
