Duties and Responsibilities:
The Athletics Department at Auburn University at Montgomery is accepting applications for the Sports Information Director position. The candidate selected to fill this position will be responsible for the following:
Coordinates all activities regarding the collection of information from the university’s varsity sports, including sport coverage.
Disseminates university sports information to the various media outlets (print, television, radio, internet, etc.)
Develops and maintains cordial, informative relationships with community representatives and media in order to encourage the promotion of the University’s athletics programs.
Ensures proper records and statistics for all sports are kept in an orderly manner for historical as well as daily information requests.
Produces publications such as record books, fliers, invitations, special brochures and any University athletic event programs.
Maintains computerized statistics for all university varsity sports.
Attends all university sporting events when outside media personnel are present.
Assists in fundraising development for the department, including generating potential sponsors for the athletics website, digital game boards and game programs.
Coordinates the daily update of the university’s athletics website.
Prepares and manages a fiscal budget for the sports information department.
Supervises the Assistant Sports Information Director, Graduate Assistant, any outside support and student-worker/interns for the Sports Information office.
Oversees graphic and video content for all social media accounts sponsored by the Department of Athletics.
Oversees video streaming of all designated events by the Department of Athletics, as well as maintenance of all streaming equipment.
Oversees setup for all video replay productions as determined by the Gulf South Conference protocols.
As a part of the job responsibilities associated with this position, knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA and Gulf South Conference should be maintained, reviewed and practiced to ensure compliance relative to those applicable duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Knowledge of acceptable marketing/promotion techniques
Knowledge of statistical software (NCAA Genius, Presto, Statcrew, etc.)
Knowledge of graphic design and publication software (Adobe Creative Suite, Gipper, BoxOut, etc.)
Knowledge of video streaming platforms and video editing software (FloSports, BlueFrame, etc.)
Knowledge of applicable policies and procedures
Skill in making written and oral presentations.
Skill in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to communication with various audiences, both orally and in writing.
Ability to interact with others.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, public relations, marketing or a related area with two (2) years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong knowledge of NCAA Genius/Presto Sports Statistical software, Adobe Creative Suite, BlueFrame Technology Video streaming platform, FloSports and graphic design.
